Nada Kalam joins Lighthouse Infrastructure

Lighthouse Infrastructure Management Limited (Lighthouse or Lighthouse Infrastructure) has appointed Nada Kalam as an Associate Director, Investments. Nada commenced her new role at Lighthouse Infrastructure on 31 May 2021.  Nada joins the Lighthouse Investment team and will be responsible for managing assets of the Lighthouse Funds and supporting the origination and transaction activities of Lighthouse. In this role, Nada will work closely with Mitch King, Founder and Managing Director of Lighthouse, who has overall responsibility for Asset Management across the business.

With a background in electrical engineering, Nada has worked in a range of energy-intensive industries, including power and utilities, oil and gas, and telecommunications. Nada has moved across from KPMG Australia, where she was working in management consulting as Manager of Engineering and Asset Management. At KPMG, Nada led multiple engagements over almost two years with clients from health services, state and federal government, and energy services. Prior to this, Nada was at Telstra Energy supporting the growth of Telstra’s then new business line, and has also held technical roles at WorleyParsons, the Australian Energy Market Operator (AEMO) and Ausnet Services. Nada holds a Bachelor of Electrical and Electronic Engineering (Hons) from the University of Melbourne. She has a Certificate IV in Business Administration and is currently undertaking a Diploma of Sustainability from the University of Tasmania.

As a member of Engineers Australia and prior Board Member of Young Engineers Australia, Nada is actively involved in promoting the advancement of engineering for the benefit of the community. Nada is also the Founder and President of a professional mentoring and networking organisation, the Muslim Professionals Association, which has over 600 members.

Commenting on her new appointment Nada said: “Joining Lighthouse gives me the unique opportunity of bringing together my experiences in engineering and asset management with my passion for sustainability, to develop tangible benefits for local communities and to deliver value for our investors”.

The Associate Director, Investments role is an important, newly created senior executive position for Lighthouse, which Managing Director Mitch King says is in response to the growth Lighthouse is experiencing in its business and planned expansion of the firm’s portfolio of investments.

Mitch commented that “Nada’s extensive experience working in the Australian energy sector, in addition to her broader asset management and sustainability capabilities are an excellent fit for Lighthouse given our firm’s focus on investing in sustainable infrastructure. Nada’s desire to professionally apply her skill set and engineering experience to work through some of society’s most pressing infrastructure problems, including climate change, specialist disability and affordable accommodation, will enhance the value of our assets and ultimately generate better outcomes for our investors and our stakeholders.”
